  We found Pat serendipitously when there was a error in our Yosemite day pass. As I write this review, it is August 2020 and Covid is rampant in the United States, so access to Yosemite park was limited. We found Pat and his services and he saved our trip! The experience was great. Pat is knowledgeable about the park and an expert with Photography. He knows exactly the route to take his guests to maximize our time in the park and capture them with ours or his camera. The day we were scheduled with Pat, he had a guide that he was training. They were both very receptive about the feedback about photo composition, lighting etc. At first there was a little sticker shock of $850/day for a family of four. however, if you compare this rate with other companies operating semi private tours, Pat’s rate is a bargain! A half a day in a semi private tour will cost you about $700. Pat met us in Oakhurst at 8 AM and our tour ended at 3 PM. It was the highlight of our week. Thank you.

  I bought a Yosemite photo safari with Pat Althizer as a birthday gift for my husband, who is getting more and more into photography since retirement. It turned out to be the best present ever for both of us! We met Pat in the park at 11AM and he took us to all the right places at the right times of day for the best photo opportunities. And in addition to our picture taking, Pat took quite a few of his own, which he will send us to help us document our day. We drove, we hiked, we picnic'ed, we got an up close (as close as possible) view of the major rock slide that occurred the day before we were there, we learned a lot about the history of the park, and we had a few laughs. My husband also got a lot of photography tips that he found very helpful. Since Pat is a park guide, as well as a very experienced photographer, we had the best of both worlds. We believe we saw more and learned more about Yosemite with Pat in one day than we ever could have on our own in several days. Our day spent with Pat was perfect. It couldn't have been better! We highly recommend this photo safari!!!!

  This was our first visit to Yosemite and we have 4 children ranging in age from 11-20 and Pat was able to make the day one we will always remember. His warm and funny demeanor combined with his true insider knowledge of the park made the day relaxed even though we covered a tremendous amount of the park and the pictures he took (while also assisting me in my shots) were amazing. He is a treasure!!

  I could not speak highly enough of my experience with Pat from Yosemite Photo Safari. His patients and experience on getting the most out of your camera and yourself was excellent. I consider myself a frustrated photographer....love photography but not always get great shots but this certainly was not the cause with the photos from my day with Pat. I was thrilled with all of them and gained excellent directions and suggestions to use on the rest of my holiday. Which I did implement and more great photos for my collection.

  A great day with Pat. Pat was really knowledgeable on Yosemite and made for not only great photo opportunity but also a history of Yosemite. Pat took in some magical view sites, paying special attention to the light conditions throughout the day, and taking in a great range of photo-shots in just a day. Highly recommended, including the warm apple-cider !

  Pat is a special guy. You would be lucky to find him and use him as a private tour guide in Yosemite. We were super lucky to find him. He was a tour guide, a great person, super friendly, an amazing professional photographer..and he sent us a link to all his amazing photos to add to our own. Highly recommend Pat when you are visiting Yosemite.

  I booked a photo Safari with Pat last minute. everything went very smoothly. Pat organises the day to suit the party and plans according to expected levels of walking etc. luckily for me I was a solo party. Pat knows all the places to visit and all of the local history. he is a very experienced photographer and can help with taking the best shots possible pointing out views which make for a great day. The pace of the day fits everyone's fitness level. I have some marvellous shots and some great memories of the day with Pat. he also pointed out some places where I could get more shots the following day. The optional questions Suitable for young children, Yes they will see sights which are amazing, Food available, Yes Pat schedules in a stop in the Yosemite Valley. Accessible using public transportation, No Pat collects you from your hotel. Closed during certain parts of the year, I believe only because of bad weather Wheelchair accessible. Although some parts would not be accessible I am sure Pat would design a full day with a wheelchair in mind. suitable for Seniors. Absolutely Pat designs the day to suit the fitness level of all visitors.

  Pat was wonderful. He knows Yosemite. Great driver. He taught us tons about setting up the shot. He is a wonderful teacher and not condescending. We got some lifetime photos. He also does sightseeing trips,shuttle service. He is a Jack of all trades. Hope to see him again in future. Pat was a pleasure to be around.

  My family spent one fantastic day with Pat, who knows Yosemite like his backyard. The trip was very well planned and Pat was so accommodating when we requested that we start late in the day in order to catch the sunset. He was very patient with my 14 year old son and gave him instructions about composition, exposure, etc. Apart from a number of wonderful shots we had a wonderful day in Yosemite. When Pat says that he takes his clients to the right place at right time it is exactly what one will experience.
